Barbara Ebert is a multilingual coach (English and German) working with undergraduate and graduate students (click here to get on the contact list for services). She specializes in coaching students through undergraduate honors, senior, and master’s thesis writing processes and guiding them through the Phi Theta Kappa leadership development course. Barbara holds an M.A. in German and European Studies (Georgetown University), received a graduate certificate in EU Studies (American Consortium on European Union Studies), earned her B.A. in Corporate Communication and Public Affairs (Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas), and studied at American University (Washington, D.C.) and Regent’s University (London, England).
A native of Germany, Barbara began her academic career at Houston Community College, where she earned an A.A. in English and accepted membership into Golden Key International Honor Society and into Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society. During her term, Barbara served as a PTK international officer, the highest student leadership position within the organization.
Now a Ph.D. student in Georgetown University’s Department of Government (Political Science), Barbara’s primary field is International Relations, specializing in international security, transatlantic relations, and U.S. foreign policy. Barbara Ebert Undergraduate Coaching

- Certified leadership instructor based on the PTK Leadership Development Studies program, internationally recognized by the W.P. Kellogg Foundation as an exemplary leadership program in higher education
- Served as a PTK Faculty Scholar and PTK Regional Officer mentor
- Taught undergraduate courses on Intercultural Understanding, Professional Development, and the Mentored Field Practicum at American University (Washington, D.C)
- Served as a research assistant at various institutions and in various academic capacities in a wide range of subject areas
- Worked with undergraduate and graduate students (from various national and international universities), editing internship application essays resumes, cover letters, and writing samples (in different teaching and administrative positions) at Georgetown and American University.
- Edited newsletters for the Dallas Goethe Center; intern for Washington Resource Associates in Washington, DC; and newsletter editor for the VA/WV Region Alumni Association of PTK
- Coached students through Hallmark writing and scholarship application processes in PTK
Barbara can deliver services in English and German and is excited to coach students on their paths to an undergraduate or graduate degree.
